The annual World Music Day celebration by the French Institute in Abuja has been a sight to behold every year as lovers of music converge to mark the day with funfair.
The event which is being put together by the French Institutein collaboration with Diamond Music Entertainment is aimed at providing a platform for the appreciation of music in all its ramifications in a two day celebration. This year's version of the remarkable day will begin with a symposium (tomorrow) 20th June, 2013 that will also
feature exhibitions and performances by various artistes at the premises of the French Institute, 52 Libreville Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, off Mr. Biggs. The celebration continues on 21st June, 2013 with a musical concert featuring great artistes and performers like never seen before.

The idea of the World Music Day was born in France, where the first all night music celebration to mark the beginning of the summer solstice took place in 1982 in Paris. Ever since, the festival has become an international phenomenon, celebrated on the same day in more than 460 cities in 110 countries.
Fete de la Musique is above all a free popular fete, that allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere. It aims at a large audience, working to popularise musical practice for young and not so young people from all social backgrounds. It gives an opportunity to communicate and share a very special moment through music.
According to the CEO, Diamond Music Entertainment, Julieta, speeches will be delivered by eminent personalities with vast experience in music and arts.
A forum will also take place for interaction between the experienced musicians and up-coming artistes with a view of imparting knowledge and solutions to some challenges in the industry.
