Born on the 6th day of January 1989, the Afro-Pop artist is the last of five children. Music has always been a large part of his life from a very young age. Growing up, he would always write songs at the back of his textbooks in school and perform to his classmates during break time. Unlike most artists who would say they have always wanted to be artists from a young age, he never though he could actually become an artist because being born into an extremely academic family, music is not a career path that is thought of or even talked about.
To satisfy his early music urges, Ric joined the classical choir of his home Anglican Church when he was only eight years old. This really shaped his understanding of music notes, and how to blend these notes to create awesome sounds. At 17, he was introduced to the studio and became obsessed with recording all kinds of music from rap, to R&B, to Gospel Music. After Graduating from University with an Economics degree, He began working with artists from Frank Edwards to Skales, Praiz, Samklef, and got to meet and mix with several other artists from whom he really drew inspiration, and got truckloads of advice and mentoring. He released singles such as Dreams, Let Me Speak, Radio, Wetin you do, Hello, and Be my girl, but being unsigned at the time, he was only ‘promoted’ by word-of-mouth. The singles however, gave him a small, but strong following.
Ric Hassani [@richassani] is now signed to the 303 empire. He is currently promoting his just recently released single; ‘Dance Dance Baby Dance’. His influences include Brandy, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran, Angel, P-Square, Wizkid, Jay-Z, Bruno Marz, Drake, & Lawson.
